✅ Although drones have autonomous flight capabilities, pilots should always keep their hands on the controller to be prepared for any errors or malfunctions. In addition, to ensure safety and smooth flight, the following items should be checked and maintained.
1. Flight Path Management
- Check if the drone is following the planned flight path and avoiding obstacles or collisions with other aircraft.
2. Flight Altitude and Location
- Monitor the drone's altitude and location and maintain the flight altitude within a safe range.
3. Flight Speed Management
- Check if the drone's speed is within a safe range and adjust the speed as needed.
4. Battery Level Check
- If the drone's battery runs out, it will slowly descend vertically.
- Regularly check the battery levels of the drone and remote controller, and always stop flying when the battery is low (about 30%). It is recommended to return to home by pressing the "Return to Home" button and replacing the battery before resuming flight.
5. Signal Interference Check
- Always check if the drone is receiving GPS signals well and flying according to the mission.
- Be careful not to cause signal interference between the drone and the remote controller. If necessary, reduce the distance between the drone and the remote controller or eliminate the cause of signal interference.
6. Check for dust on the drone gimbal
- If there is a lot of dust, the photo quality will not be good and you will not get good results. Wipe the gimbal and proceed with the shooting.
7. Camera and Recording Status
- Check if the camera is operating normally at the correct angle according to the mission and is recording video or taking pictures. If you think there is a problem with the camera, you need to stop shooting immediately and check.
- There may also be a problem with the cable connecting the mobile device to the controller. Always take good care of the cable and controller.
8. Observe Weather Conditions
- Monitor the weather conditions during flight and be prepared for changes in wind, rain, and fog.
- If the wind is blowing at a speed of 5 m/s or more, or if the wind is strong enough to make it impossible to work at high altitudes (such as when a person is working at a high altitude or lifting an object), please stop flying the drone.
- In the case of Autel drones, the flight speed may slow down due to the influence of wind. As the flight speed slows down, battery consumption may increase, so be careful.
- The drone is water resistant, but if it starts to rain while you are flying, please proceed with "Return to home" immediately.
9. Check Flight Movement and Commands
- Check if the drone is accurately executing the control commands. If necessary, modify or stop the flight movement.
10. Prepare for Emergency Situations
- Know the emergency procedures in case an emergency occurs and take action using the emergency button or mode. Pilots need to make sure they can fly manually in an emergency to make a safe landing.
11. Pay Attention to the Surrounding Environment
- Carefully observe the surrounding environment and maintain a safe distance from other aircraft, people, and animals.
12. Manage Flight Time
- Efficiently manage the flight time considering the battery life of the drone and plan for charging or battery replacement.
13. Maintain Communication
- Maintain communication with the base station or remote controller as needed and know how to respond in case of communication failure.
