▎What is an earthwork tally sheet?
This feature allows you to compare the current elevation (drone recording date) with the planned elevation and output the amount of soil worked in a table divided into zones. With this feature, you can easily track and manage your entire earthmoving operation by viewing (amount of work compared to previous date), (remaining work), and more.
ℹ️ Instructions
- What to bring: Photographs of the analysis site after GCP marking, plan elevation file, earthwork zone meter
- Deliverables : Earthworks tally sheet (tally sheet, detail sheet)
▎How to create an earthwork tally sheet
1. Add an Earthwork Zone Meter File
To create an earthwork tally sheet, you need a drawing file separated by zones. (Same functionality as the old 'Add Area with Drawing')
- Upload a DXF file via (Earthworks Zone Meter > Add File).
2. Earthwork Zone Meter: Zone Modification and Versioning
- Click on the filename of the uploaded earthwork zone meter to view its details.
- Areas that have finished earthworks can be marked as complete, and you can set different completion dates for each area.
- Click the [Select completion date] button to select a completion date from the calendar.
- The amount of earth in the completed area is excluded from the calculation in the earthwork tally sheet from the date of application.
Adding an earthwork zone
- You can add a new earthwork zone by clicking the Add Earthwork Zone button at the bottom of the left panel.
- Creating earthwork zones is the same as adding the Area tool: (Left-click - Add Point / Right-click - Finish Creating)
Modifying earthwork zones
- Select the created earthwork zone to modify the detail area ([+] - add point / select point - change area)
Earthwork Zone Meter - Save Version
- You can save a new version after making updates, such as creating additional earthwork zones or making changes.
- Select the created earthwork zone to edit the detail area. Make note of your changes and save them.
Earthwork Zone Meter - Versioning
- You can check the updated history of the earthworks zone meter via the [Version History] button on the right panel.
- Tasks are calculated based on the most recent version.
- If you want to revert to a past version, please delete the later update versions so that the version at the time you want to revert rises to the top.
3. Upload plan elevation (/stratigraphy)
A planimetric (/stratigraphic) file is required to generate the earthwork tabulations.
* For more information, see (3.2.6 Using planimetric (stratigraphic) and cadastral maps) for more information.

ℹ️ Transformation Design Inquiry Guide If you need to generate a plan elevation (stratigraphic elevation) TIF file, or if you have a site that needs to be redesigned due to file updates, use the Please contact us via channel talk on the bottom right. (Additional costs may be incurred when designing the conversion) |
4. Date your detailed statement
If you have uploaded both the earthwork zone system and plan elevation, the earthwork tally sheet menu is automatically generated.
[Detail Statement >] button to select the date and reference surface you want to calculate, then click the [OK] button to start the calculation.
(* Calculations will continue normally even if you exit the browser from the screen where they are being calculated).

⚠️ Guidelines |
▎Earthwork Tally Sheet - Detailed Statement
Select the date of the calculation and click the [OK] button to view the detailed statement.
Earthwork Tally Sheet - Detail Sheet
- Based on the actual and planned (stratigraphic) stocks on the date you requested the calculation, you can see the number of deliveries compared to the previous date in a table.
(If you have a large number of dates requested to be calculated, this may result in horizontal scrolling). - Click the [Export to Excel] button on the top right to download the table on the screen as an Excel file.
- Click on the [Extract to Table] button in the top right corner to edit the detailed statement in the form of a summary table.
Detail Statement: Additional Comments
- Earthwork Zone/Stationary: Displays the applied file and version of the plan elevation (/stratigraphy) and the name of the earthwork zone system.
- Planned quantity: The initial estimate that the user made at the time of construction. (This is used as a record of the initial estimate without affecting the detailed statement calculations).
- Remaining earthwork: Current elevation minus planned elevation on the most recent date specified when selecting the calculation date.
- Total by date: The sum of the shipments for all specified days, when the calculation date is selected.
- Shipment volume compared to previous date: For each date specified when selecting the calculation date, the value is compared to the nearest previous date. (If it is the most recent date, the volume will be shown as '0' because there is no comparison date).
Shipment for the day = (previous day's status high - planned high) - (current day's status high - planned high)
ex) Shipment on 8/8 = (7/30 Actual 10,000 - Planned 5,000) - (8/8 Actual 9,000 - Planned 5,000) = 1,000
▎Earthwork Tally Sheet - Tally Sheet
Click the [Extract to Tally] button on the detail screen and specify a name for the tally to go to the Tally screen.
Earthwork Tally Sheet - Tally Sheet
- You can enter detailed soil specifications and quantities by clicking the [Add item] button within the stratigraphy entry.
- Click the [Export to Excel] button on the top right to download the table on the screen as an Excel file.
|
⚠️ Guidance - If you have [Add item], the total (subtotal value) of the quantity entered must match the value of the total by date. (If the values don't match, a cautionary statement is printed at the top of the table). |
▎FAQ
The Specify Detail pop-up doesn't have the date I want.
To provide accurate numbers, the following cases are excluded from the list of dates
1. no GCP / 2. no DSM / 3. no plan elevation and earthwork zone meter to calculate
Is the old 'Add Area to Drawing' feature / Area - Create Bill of Materials feature gone?
This feature has been replaced by the more advanced [Earthwork Area Meter] feature.
You can add and calculate zone drawing files in the same way as before, so please refer to the [Earthwork Zone System] section of this document for more information. (The creation information date of existing registered earthwork zones will be moved to the earthwork zone system on 24.09.01)
I don't have a zoning drawing to upload to the earthworks zonemap, can't I create an area on the platform?
You can do this by creating an area with the Area tool, then ticking only the drawings you want to convert and selecting Print - DXF to download.
You can use the downloaded DXF file by uploading it via [Earthwork Zone System - Add File].
What is 'DTM' in the Specify earthworks detail pop-up?
What is a DTM? A pure terrain model is a DSM automatically generated from drone imagery that removes objects that are unnecessary for quantification. It can be created using the [DEM - Add DTM] feature.
Can I turn off my browser when the earthwork tally sheet is being calculated?
Yes. If you exit the browser from the screen where you are calculating, the calculation will continue as normal.
How do I create a planimetric/stratigraphic file? (Planimetric/stratigraphic files have been updated)
If you need to generate a plan elevation (stratigraphic elevation) TIF file, or if you have a site that needs to be redesigned due to file updates, use the Please contact us via Channel Talk at the bottom right. (Additional costs may be incurred when designing the conversion).
What are the implications if the earthwork zone application date or completion date changes?
Points in time before the ~application date and after the ~completion date are excluded from the volume calculation.
Compare with current elevation button is missing / Calculate planned elevation cut and fill is missing.
This functionality has been removed or changed as more advanced earthwork tally sheet functionality has been developed.
(Detailed breakdowns allow for more detailed earthwork calculations per zone)
The ability to provide 1:1 comparisons with shoots from other days is a future enhancement and will be available separately.
I think the earthwork calculation is different from the actual earthwork.
If the value is calculated incorrectly, check the items below for any issues.
- Is the effective date of the plan elevation/stratigraphy not set incorrectly?
- Are the earthwork zones' application and completion dates set correctly?
- Have you selected the correct reference surface you want?
If you have any other issues with the numerical values, please contact us via Channel Talk in the bottom right corner of the platform screen.
I corrected a quantity on a statement, but the aggregation table shows the old value.
The aggregation table is based on the data at the time the aggregation table is extracted from the detail statement.
For this reason, if you have made any changes to the detail sheet after creating the tally sheet, please extract the tally sheet anew.
